Terms of service

1. What this is

herobid.lol is a public leaderboard. You pay to place a link to a website you control on the board. Positions are ordered by the standing bid on each listing. The highest bid is shown largest at the top of the page and its holder picks the site's colour theme.

2. What you are buying

A bid buys a position, not a duration. You hold a position until someone bids more. Bids are non-refundable, including when you are outbid seconds later. The only exception is a payment we could not apply (for example because someone beat you to #1 inside the same second), which we refund in full.

Raising your own standing bid costs the difference. Taking #1 from someone else costs at least $1 more than their bid. There is no protection window: you can be outbid at any moment.

3. Screenshots and metadata

We take a screenshot of the URL you submit and read its public title, description and icon. By submitting a URL you confirm you have the right to have that page displayed here, and you grant us a licence to display the screenshot and metadata on herobid.lol and in promotion of it. We may re-take screenshots at any time. We do not guarantee any particular appearance.

4. What we will remove

We remove, without refund, any listing that is illegal, deceptive, adult, hateful, malware, a phishing page, a link shortener, a redirect to any of the above, or that we simply do not want on our homepage. Our call, no appeal. Nothing is pre-approved; a paid listing goes live automatically and is reviewed afterwards.

5. Clicks and traffic

Outbound links go through a counter and then redirect to your URL with no query parameters. Click counts are informational and not a promise of traffic.

6. No warranty, limited liability

The site is provided as-is. It may go down, be redesigned, or shut. To the fullest extent allowed by law our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 30 days before the claim.

7. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe and made to herobid. We never see your card. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax you may owe locally.

8. Changes

We can change these terms by updating this page. Continuing to bid means you accept the current version.
